2011 Camp News
Urgent Prayer Need
Today we learned a dire situation regarding one of our RHM families.
Years ago, an elderly, widowed mother bought the house in which she lives today with her son (who has Down Syndrome) and her daughter and son-in-law (a couple). As her health worsened, she gave the house to the couple.
Lately the relationship between the mother and couple has deteriorated. The couple drinks heavily and treats the mother and brother poorly. Recently they locked her in her room for 4 days, locked her out of the house, and yesterday after camp, they locked the gate so they couldn’t even enter the yard from the street. They had to wait outside for several hours until she was finally able to contact a neighbor to have the daughter unlock the gate.
The RHM team will be unable to visit them in their home as they normally do on the summer trips, as the daughter warned that if we do so, she would “make them (mother and son) pay.”
The only apparent answer is for mother and son to find a safe place of their own. Her expenses would be about $500/mo. Please pray for God’s great wisdom in helping find a safe solution, and let us know if you would like to donate to help address the situation.
